Meadowsweet Mint Spring Tea + Self-Care Morning Ritual
Last weekend, I was invited to visit my friend Gaelle in Aulnay-La-Rivière, about an hour and a half south of Paris. I took the train, and what should have been a direct, turned into a 2 1/2 hour train + bus ride. Ah Parisian public transportation! Gaelle greeted me at the Gare and drove the 15 or so minutes to her new country house. Suffice it to say, walking through the old metal gate, I was immediately in heaven. She had prepared lunch, followed by this lovely brew – Meadowsweet Mint Sprint Tea. I’m not sure that this is the true name, but when she told me what was in it, reine-des-prés being one of the leaves, I translated it to learn that it is “meadowsweet.” What a lovely word I thought and so fitting for where I was.
Having only moved in a few months earlier, her place was brimming with hospitality and coziness. The weekend was spent eating, drinking, exploring and sharing and I came back to Paris energized and inspired! I decided to share this tea as a little keepsake of my time with Gaelle. I’ve been drinking it everyday since I returned and it’s a lovely way to start the day.
